Where are you based?
Home right now is Vancouver, Canada.
Where's your favourite place to ride?
I'm lucky to live in the Pacific Northwest, so there's no shortage of varied terrain. Within 30 minutes of leaving my apartment, I can be rolling next to the ocean, through forest trails or climbing one of the North Shore mountains and ending up above the snow line.
What type of riding do you like to do the most?
I bought a CX bike this year so my favourite rides lately have been on gravel trails and service roads.
How do you discover a new route? Do you plan ahead with maps or just see where the road takes you?
I've been introduced to a lot of new routes through some adventurous friends. Otherwise, it's mostly been a combination of Google Maps, Strava Segment Search and searching "(insert location) gravel roads."
What equipment do you use to capture your ride?
In a pinch, I'll use my Nexus 5. Until recently, I was using a Canon S90 while riding but it died just before the holidays and has now been replaced by a Ricoh GR. Off the bike, I'm shooting with an Olympus OM-D when I'm covering races.
What destination would be on your riding wish list?
Where do I even begin? Of course I'd love to ride the fabled routes of the European stage races and one-day classics, but at the top of my list would have be seeing the eight bridges of Norway's Storseisundet, also known as the Atlantic Ocean Road. Closer to home, I'd like to spend more weekend camping trips with friends in Interior BC and Oregon.
