JIRÍ PARÍZEK

Where are you based?
Brno, South Moravia, Czech Republic

Where's your favourite place to ride?
The place I like to ride the most is definitely Moravian Karst. I live right next to the crast and that´s why this magic place is easily reachable for me. Lots of rising and descending…rocky valleys and plenty of caves to see. It is the largest karst area in the Czech Republic.

What type of riding do you like to do the most?
I prefer riding with no cars around, so the further from cars the better. In the Karst there are quieter roads, as they have been closed to cars since the 90s and open just for hiking. These roads are the best. Hills are not too long but steep. Still up and down. Moravian Karst is also the 'mecca' of MTB riding for sure, lots of single tracks and hidden paths into the woods, which is great to discover.

How do you discover a new route? Do you plan ahead with maps or just see where the road takes you?
Mostly I ride where the road takes me. I havent got lost yet and when I really don´t know I use the map in my cell. But the area is so big I don't have to plan that much. I know a lot of roads I like to ride in any weather. The landscape is changing and it´s beautiful. However, some of the roads still surprise me.

What equipment do you use to capture your ride?
I ride just with my iPhone 5s. I have various cameras at home, but they are too big to have in my pocket. I think the iPhone is enough for taking pictures. If I consider buying some small camera in future it would be the Ricoh GR which is small and space-saving.

What destination would be on your riding wish list?
Any place here or worldwide. Roads in Scandinavia are attractive, Norway, Sweden… I would like to go one day. But I think there are also many good roads in central Europe – France, Italy, Slovenia (beautiful country by the way).

In Spring I am planning to go to a training camp in Croatia, where the weather is a pretty nice, while here in Czech there is still snow or rain. There are hundreds of good and quiet roads.
